Registration Registration

All Denver Open Media volunteers are to fill out the online registration form via the website. The Director of Operations will contact them to discuss their interest in volunteering and to find a suitable time, date and job for placement.

Once you are an official volunteer, you will be asked to register on our website so that each time you volunteer with us, you can count your hours toward a discounted membership!

Placement Placement

Prior to being placed in a volunteer position each volunteer will be asked to perform supportive administrative tasks. This not only aids DOM's office management team, but also provides the volunteer with important insight into our operations. After determining an area of interest and becoming certified to use the equipment in that department the director of operations will arrange a meeting for the volunteer to talk directly with the staff supervisor for that position. The purpose of this meeting is for the supervisor to determine whether the volunteer will be suitable for the position and for the volunteer to determine if they would like to take on the position offered. Days and times of voluntary work to be determined at this meeting. If both the supervisor and the volunteer then wish to proceed with this particular position, the director of operations is informed, and any official paperwork necessary is filled out and the exact day/time of the volunteer's first day is set.

Volunteers are to then be given a tour of Denver Open Media offices and introduced to all available members of staff. The staff is to be informed as to the volunteer’s duties and who they will be working with.

Training Training

Supervisors are expected to provide adequate training to enable their volunteers to carry out their proscribed duties. The supervisors are responsible for their volunteers while they are learning to use DOM equipment and must make themselves available to help when needed. Volunteers are to be encouraged to develop and expand their personal skills to maintain and enhance DOM 's effectiveness. Specific training for volunteers will be provided where appropriate and financially possible. We also highly encourage all Volunteers to have self-initiative in areas their supervisor has indicated are appropriate.
