Start with a fresh software install and have all preferences, permissions, logins, passwords and accounts set up.
- Shutdown Target Drive/Disk, Reboot holding down "T" to make it boot as a Firewire drive and connect to laptop (host machine).
- Open Disk Utility on host machine.
- Select mounted drive.
- Select File-->New-->Disk Image from Folder.
- Select Target Drive
- Save as:
- Name: ie. "Macintosh HD NLE"
- Location: ie. External Firewire Drive
- Image Format: Read/Write (very important)
- Encryption: None
- Shutdown Target Drive/Disk, Reboot holding down "T" to make it boot as a Firewire drive and connect to Laptop (host machine).
- Open Disk Utility on host machine.
- Click on Restore
- Source is created image, DMG file
- Destination is Computer Drive to be installed
- Check Erase Destination
- Check Sum makes sure images are identical
- To remove license from FCP, go to Library-->App Support-->Pro Apps-->Finalcut Studio System ID and move to the Trash.
