IMPORTANT: When ingesting content ALWAYS log on to the editing system as DOM INGEST ONLY, the password is DOM

1. Double-click the "START HERE" icon in the center of the screen

2. Turn on DV Deck and insert your tape and rewind it.

3. On editing station, open Final Cut Pro by double-clicking the "FCP icon on the DOCK:

4. Next open the capture window: File>Log And Capture

5. Under the Logging Tab, in Description, type the name of the program and episode number (if applicable) and end it with a .MOV (This is VERY IMPORTANT). Example:

6. Back on the DV deck, play the tape past any black or color bars to the beginning of the program. We do not need/want color bars, slate, or countdown. You need to start the capture 2 seconds of black before the start. Note (and write down) the time on the counter.

7. Next, fast-forward or use the jog wheel to get to the end of the program. It’s advisable to use head phones to determine the end of the program. Note (and write down) the program end time from the counter.

8. Rewind the tape and cue it several seconds before the start.

9. Back on the editing station position the mouse over the button CAPTURE NOW.

10. Start the tape and click the CAPTURE NOW button 1-2 seconds before the program starts. (Use the start time from Step 6). As you hit capture you should see another window pop up, under the program you should see the words "now capturing".

11. The program should play and be captured. As soon as the program END time is reached (as noted in step 9) hit the ESC key on the keyboard to end capture.

12. You can now capture additional programs or close Final Cut Pro. Rewind and remove the tape.

13. Next you must move your captured program(s) to the INGEST drive. To do this, first double-click the folder called CAPTURE SCRATCH on the desktop. You should see another folder called INGEST and double click this. There you should see the program(s) you captured.

14. Now, with your mouse, drag (and drop) your program(s) to the INGEST drive (SEE BELOW). A message will pop up showing your file transferring. Close the INGEST folder.

15. Double-click the DOMinizer link on the desktop to finish the ingest process. You will be asked to add additional information about your program. Fill out all the fields requesting information about your program, without this info you program may not be labeled or scheduled the way you'd like.

16. Log out of the editing station by clicking on the "Apple" and "Log Out"; see below:
