For the first time in Denver’s history, public access television watchers will be able to vote and comment on their favorite shows. Denver Open Media (DOM), operators of Denver’s three public access television stations (Comcast 56, 57, and 219), are thrilled to introduce a revolutionary new feature called Short Message Service (SMS) that will change the way audience members watch television.
Keeping in line with DOM’s mission of putting the power of media in the hands of the public, SMS is an innovative method of voting that allows members to SMS/Text their vote from any phone that supports SMS. Viewers can text in a rating from 1-5 and a short comment from their cell phone, which will be displayed on the TV screen within seconds. These votes and comments are also logged on the DenverOpenMedia.org website and will determine the programming schedule on DOM's "best-of" Channel 57, with the top-rated shows receiving the best prime-time slots.
For more information about SMS voting please contact Ann Theis, the DOM Station Director at 720-222-0160 xt. 203 or at: ann [at] deproduction [dot] org.
